Atheist Farooq murder case goes to CB-CID after accused names Buhari
COIMBATORE: Investigation into rationalist H Farooq murder case was handed over to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) police on Saturday by the Director General of Police (DGP) TK Rajendran. The decision to hand over the case to the agency came after one of the six accused confessed that he drew inspiration from Bengaluru bomb blast accused Kichan Buhari. A top CB-CID official told Express, “The case has been transferred to us and we have received the files. One of the accused has confessed that he was inspired by Buhari. We plan to interrogate the murder case accused after thoroughly understanding the case.” Days after Farooq was murdered, the city police arrested Akram Jindha, Abdul Munaf and Jaffer Ali, residents of Podanur in the city, while three accused Ansath, Sadam Hussain, Samsudeen, also from Podanur, surrendered at the local court.
