Benue:Unknown man donates #42m in church

A man whose identity has been secure by an area church in Makurdi, has dismayed church members with a tithe giving of N42 million.

Investigations by the news organization of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi disclosed that the money was paid into the UBA account of the NKST Church High Level Makurdi.

Although the pastor of the church, Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, at first denied information of the givinga replica of the church’s quarterly monetary report, covering the months of Jan – March, confirmed the payment of N42 million tithe to the church.

The report showed that the lodgement was the best single giving by one person for the quarter.

The money was paid into the church’s account in Jan.

The breakdown of the church’s monetary report showed  a financial gain of N56.2 million with an expenditure of N33.7 million at intervals in equivalent timeframe.

The church’s records additionally showed that out of the financial gain, N44.6 million was generated from tithe offerings whereas one person accounted for N42 million.

Reacting to the monetary report, the pastor aforementioned his initial denial has supported the allegations that the donor was not an appointee of the Benue government.

“I still stand by my words that the person who gave us that money isn't an appointee of the government. In fact, he doesn't even resides in Benue however he is a native of the state.”

He went ahead to say that there was nothing wrong with the giving and insisted that the church had nothing to cover.

Meanwhile, the tithe giving has stirred argument during a state troubled to pay the salaries of staff.

Public discussion centred on the legitimacy of the donors financial gain, as a person who pays N42m to a church as tithe, should have made a financial gain of N420 million within the month that he paid.

The NKST Church is an abbreviation for ‘Non go Kristu U Sudan hen Tiv’, which means the Church of Christ Amongst the Tiv
